Now we all know that this season has been one to forget from the very first tip off for the Milwaukee Bucks. With winning only one game in January and a whopping nine wins on the season the Bucks leave fans little to be happy about. Except that it’s almost baseball season.
But don’t give up on the Bucks yet.
With the recent win over the New York Knicks theres been a slight breath of excitement around town. A breath of life still in the Deer. Now I’m not saying that the Bucks are due for a crazy surge and go 27-7 in the final 34 games. But what I am saying is that theres something to look forward to with this team.
Milwaukee is a very young team and only going to get younger with the start of next season and their newly drafted players. Which is a really good thing I think. With Milwaukee playing as poorly as they have they’re giving themselves a good chance at securing the number one overall draft pick in the NBA lottery. Obtaining that draft pick will give Milwaukee a chance at landing the missing piece they need. A legit scorer in Jabari Parker. If drafted by the Bucks he would be 19 years old on an NBA roster. Making the Bucks all that much younger. But he would give the Bucks that scoring presence that the so desperately need.
Giving Milwaukee another young body gives the team a chance to build a team of talented players that’s cost effective for a small market team such as Milwaukee. Now a team that has young and talented players usually has them at a locked in at a reasonable rate for a decent set of years giving the team the chance to sign the players worth keeping to build a future dynasty. And that’s exactly what I see happening in the future. Maybe not the immediate future. But the future nonetheless.
If Parker becomes a Buck the lineup you could see on a nightly basis could consist of center Larry Sanders, forwards Ersan Ilyasova and Giannis Antetokounmpo, and guards Mayo and Parker. Or any combination head coach Larry Drew is thinking gives his team the best chance at winning the game. And we all know Milwaukee needs wins. They haven’t been very good in recent seasons so a season that brings wins is a welcomed season to say the least.
Having a young team can give the players a chance to grow a team and become solid. They can develop into a team that other teams don’t want to travel to and face on their home court. The Bucks have the potential to be a dynasty. A team of players that grows together and dominates. Big bodies taking up the lane and speedy shooters on the outside will be problematic for opposing teams.
These Bucks are young Bucks. Give them a few seasons to grow and get stronger and add in a player of Parkers caliber and soon enough you will see competition back in Milwaukee. In a few seasons Milwaukee will be giving the Indiana Pacers a run for the division title.
